24. "The Ride of Her Life" by Jennifer Dugan. Honestly, an absolute delight from start to finish...except for the fact that the solution to their problem was SO FREAKING OBVIOUS FROM THE BEGINNING. But enjoyable characters, nice, funny writing, and all of my favorite things. 3.75/5🌟. 6.5/10 🌶️.

23. "Interstellar MegaChef" by Lavanya Lakshminarayan. I really, really wanted to like this one, but it was a slog. I love queer romance/cooking competition books, but this was a miss for me personally, for whatever reason. Too much world-building; not enough living in said world. 2.75/5🌟. 1/10 🌶️.

Today was a good day.

(If I ignore the crushing guilt about being thousands of miles from home)

No matter the country, it’s a universal experience — waiting while my wife shops for yarn.

Second chance AND fake dating? Don’t mind if I do.

(Bonus—I have a great view today.)

22. "Say a Little Prayer" by Jenna Voris. Have you ever read a book that resonated with you so much that you're actually angry you didn't write it? Me too. YA book about being an outcast in a small, Jesus-y town with (plot twist) supportive parents. This was an emotional read for me. 4.5/5🌟. .5/10🌶️.

21. "Catch" by Kris Bryant. Love books about football but hate reading about a bunch of men? Pick this one up and know true joy. I initially worried about a potential cheating storyline because of the premise (rekindled first love but now one is married), but that wasn't the case. 4/5🌟. 6.5/10🌶️.

20. "On Her Terms" by Amy Spalding. The third in a trilogy, and one that I read willingly, not begrudgingly. Fake dating? Check. Spicy spice? Check. Curvy MC that doesn't look rail thin on the cover? Check. The rare book that shows the next step in a wlw romance isn't always a U-Haul. 4.5/5🌟. 7/10🌶️.

19. "Legends & Lattes" by Travis Baldree. A enjoyable gay romp. Found family, swords, coziness, and creatures of all kinds. Pretty queer and hella fun. Plus, it's really interesting to see people try coffee for the first time. 4/5🌟. 0.5/10🌶️.

18. "Most Wonderful" by Georgia Clark. Did I read a holiday book in April? Yes. Do I have any regrets? No. Three related romances involving three queer siblings with a famous aging actress of a mother. Delightful, hilarious, great characters, and well-written. I loved this one. 4.75/5🌟. 8.5/10🌶️.

17. "Can't Spell Treason without Tea" by Rebecca Thorne. Sort of feels like it should be a cozy fantasy, but there's more fighting than sipping bevvies and reading by a magical fire. Good characters (main and supporting), enjoyable story, and a HEA that took more work than is standard. 4/5🌟. 1/10🌶️.

16. "Lucky in Lace" by Melissa Brayden. Bog standard sapphic HEA. If you're in the mood for a predictable book that's decently written and doesn't require much emotional investment, this fits the bill. 3.5/5🌟. 7.5/10🌶️.

15. "The Lovers" by Rebekah Faubion. Second chance! Forced proximity! Tarot! Great story, great chemistry between all of the characters, and all-around everything you'd want in a HEA. My only con was the one character's coming-out journey didn't fit with the rest of her personality. 4.5/5🌟. 6.5/10🌶️.

14. "The Orc and Her Bride" by Lila Gwynn. A genuine delight. Well-written, good characters (except for that one awful one, and she came around eventually), and an orc who is shockingly not a warrior. This book led me to tell my friend, "Orcs can do crazy things with their tongues." 4.25/5🌟. 8/10🌶️.
May 27, 2025 at 11:53 PM
13. "The Bookshop and the Barbarian" by Morgan Stang. I thought this one was only okay, but I do not remember why. I think I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style, and I didn't super connect with the characters. I mean, probably? It was months ago, and I've had a lot going on. 2.75/5🌟. 0.5/10🌶️.

11 & 12. "The Kidnapped" and "The System" by Nicole Pyland. Just lumping these together, and my feelings are basically the same as the others in the series. Kudos to you if you're a fan, but I think this will be the last of this author for me. 3.5/5🌟. 7/10🌶️.
