Saw a lot of good bands back in the 70s. Not a lot of them left.
The last single I have from Bruce is a cut from the album “Bruce Springsteen $ The E Street Band Live 1975 -85”. “Fire” charted at #46 while the Pointer Sisters version was a top 10 hit. The b side was “Incident at 57th Street.

Now up is the final single released from the USA album, the autobiographical “My Hometown “. The song peaked #6. The b side is a live version of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”. This from a live concert at Posr College in 1975. It has become a beloved version on Xmas radio formats.

Next up is the second single from USA, “Cover Me”. The song peaked at #7 on the charts. The flip side was a live version of a Tom Waites song, “Jersey Girl”. It was recorded at the Meadowlands in 1981.

Next up is the first single released from the “Born In The USA” album, “Dancing In The Dark”. This song charted at # 2. It won a Grammy as Best Rock Vocal Performance. The MTV video featured future “Friends” star Courtney Cox. The b side “Pink Cadillac” reached #27 despite not being on an album.

Next up is another single from “The River” album, “Fade Away”. While not as successful as the previous release, it reached #20. The b side, “Be True” was not on any album but still charted at #42.

Next up is a single by Bruce Springsteen, “Hungry Heart” from “The River”. This song charted at #5. Bruce’s voice was sped up. While the E Street Band provided the music, the backing vocals were by Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (The Turtles, Phil and Eddie). The b side was “Held Up Without A Gun”.

Waiting for UPS man to deliver some stuff, so I thought I would spin some 45s. First up is “Rainy Night In Georgia” by Brook Benton. Recorded in 1969, in the spring of 1970, it had reached #4 on the charts. It was written by Tony Joe White (Poke Salad Annie). The b side was “Where Do I Go From Here”

Last up is “Caroline No”. While it appeared on the classic “Pet Sounds” album, Capitol decided to release it as a Brian Wilson disc because no other Beach Boys appeared on it. The backing band was the Wrecking Crew which included Glen Campbell. B side was the instrumental “Summer Means New Love”.

Next up is Brewer and Shipley’s “One Toke Over The Line” This song charted at #10. Because of its marijuana reference, it was banned from airplay in some markets. Somehow it got performed on the Lawrence Welk show, Welk calling it a spiritual. The b side, “Oh Mommy” had Jerry Garcia on guitar.

Next up is Bobby Vee’s ”Come Back When You Grow Up” which peaked at #3 in the US. The b side was “Swahili Serenade”. In the early part of Vee’s career, a musician named Elton Gunn was in his touring band. Turned out he was a very young Bob Dylan.

Finally, up next is considered one of the greatest songs ever written, “Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan. At 6 minutes it was considered too long and Columbia did not want to release it. Pressure from DJs forced the release and it rose to #2. The flip side is Gates of Eden.

Next up is Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round In Circles” it was a #1 hit in 1973. Preston was a well known session man in the ‘60s and his work with The Beatles well documented. The single “Get Back” was credited to The Beatles with Billy Preston. The b side was McCartney’s “Blackbird”.
