Nothing good can come from what Berlinerblau is advocating for. And with the academy in peril as it is, Berlinerblau wants to drive it over the cliff like Toonces the Driving Cat! Well, I for one, am not going to get in that car and will watch him sail over the edge from the safety of independence!!

As someone who sits outside the academy as an independent scholar, I can only see things akin to the Burning House parable of the Lotus Sutra. Conservatives have set the academic house on fire outside; Berlinerblau wants to bring those flames inside and burn the structure from within. Sheer folly!!

And don't forget McWhorter's running buddy Glenn Loury, who published the dirtiness of his life in a book and became the pariah of the scholarly world because of it. Is this what Berlinerblau wants to have in the academy? If it is, the academy is doomed via sabotage from within not from without.

McWhorter would never bring that book into any sort of consideration for promotion nor any actual intellectual conversation. McWhorter is a linguist and yet never applies semantics or pragmatics to his analysis of politics. Is this what Berlinerblau sees conservatives bringing to the table?

And let's look at some conservative scholars and what they bring to the table; this is something Berlinerblau completely failed to do. For example, John McWhorter's absolute garbage book "Woke Racism," where he completely abandons argumentation in favor of what he feels is true.

Politics in the humanities is rooted in the analysis of the subject matter. In literature, politics is rooted in the text(s) under discussion and the text(s) marshalled for the arguments. And with the gross ignorance displayed on the right, why would you welcome that into a serious discussion?

As a scholar and former professor in premodern Japanese literature, there is no conservative thinker in this field. Politics is about what you should or should not do according to Todd May and Berlinerblau does not understand this critical point.

If this is the type of professor Chicago has at its employ, a professor who is completely oblivious to the things in front of their eyes, then it's only natural that the University can't defend its work against no-nothing critiques from right-wing idiots!!

The red dots are marking out the rhythm. The big red dots are the 1 beat when the taiko drum strikes and the smaller red dots are the beats marked out with the kakko drum and shoko gong. I do believe Professor Robert Garfias gave a talk about this score.
