Number 211, the Pekingese. 
The Pekingese is one of the oldest dog breeds. It is depicted on nearly 4,000-year-old Chinese objects.
China is the breed's country of origin, but today England is considered its home country.
In 1860, the first Pekingese came to England as spoils of war.

Number 209, the Papillon. 
The breed's name, French for "butterfly", comes from its large ears that look like a butterfly with outstretched wings.
If a papillon has drooping ears, it is called a phalène (French for "moth").

Number 208, the Otterhound. 
The Otterhound is one of the oldest British breeds.
According to history, King John already had the breed in 1212.
In England the breed is relatively rare, but has become more popular in recent times.

Number 207, the Old English Sheepdog. 
From southwest England there are descriptions of the breed for over 200 years.
They are descended from the so-called shepherd dogs, whose task was to defend the cattle herds against two- and four-legged invaders.

Number 206, the Old Danish Pointer. 

The only Scandinavian pointer arose in the early eighteenth century by breeding dogs of travelling romani people with local farm dogs.
The romani people's dogs, which probably had a touch of the Spanish pointers.

Number 205, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. 
The Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever was developed on the Nova Scotia peninsula in the early 1800s to "toll" (or attract) and retrieve waterfowl.
There are different theories about the origin.

Number 205, the Norwich Terrier. 
The Norwich Terrier was originally a rat dog, partly on the farms of eastern England and later, at the end of the 19th century, popular among horse breeders and students in the Norfolk countryside.
It is closely related to the Norfolk Terrier.

The Norwegian Lundehund is one of Scandinavia's and the world's rarest and above all special breeds.
Through its special purpose as a "puffin hunter" within a very limited area.

Number 202, the Norwegian Elkhound. 

Norwegian Elkhound is an old breed that developed from the local spitz dog breeds in the border areas between Norway and Sweden.
As a purebred breed, it has been solid since the middle of the 19th century.

Number 201, the Norwegian Buhund. 

It is a very old breed. Excavations of Viking settlements and graves have found remains from as early as the 870s.
The Buhuns also accompanied them on trips to settlements both in Iceland and in Great Britain.

Number 200, the Norrbottenspitz.  The breed probably originates from small dogs that were already in prehistoric times with hunters on the Nordkalotten. After the Second World War, interest in the breed disappeared and it was considered extinct for a time.

Number 199, the Norfolk Terrier. 
At the turn of the last century, small red terriers were described in East Anglia northeast of London.
The small terriers became popular both as companion dogs, among others with the students in Cambridge, and as farm dogs to keep rats and other pests away.

Number 198, the Newfoundland. 
The Newfoundland dog is said to be descended from native dogs and a large black bear dog that came with Vikings to the island of Newfoundland in Canada sometime after the 12th century.
There, the dogs were used to pull heavy loads of timber.

At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, nederlandse schapendoes were everywhere in Holland where there were shepherds and flocks of sheep.

Number 196, the Neapolitan Mastiff. 
The Neapolitan Mastiff is said to be a descendant of the great Roman mastiffs described by Columella (1st century AD) in his book De Re Rustica.
The breed has survived for hundreds of years in the countryside around Naples and Vesuvius.

Number 195, Mutt or Mixed Breed. 
When going through the dog breeds it´s imported to remeber that not all dogs are pure breeds. 
There are lots of wonderfull dogs that are mixed and they deserve to be loved.

Number 194, the Mudi. 
The mudi breed was formed in the 18th and 19th centuries by cross-breeding between Hungarian shepherd dogs and probably varieties of German herding dogs with standing ears.
It was also used as a guard dog.

Number 193, the Miniature Schauzern. 
Around the turn of the last century, a schnauzer-like dwarf dog appeared around Frankfurt am Main under the name brindle-haired miniature pinscher.
The breed was originally a rat catcher and farm dog.

Number 192, the Miniature Pinscher. 
The breed comes from Germany and comes from the pinscher.

Number 191, the Miniature American Shepherd.  The dog breed was developed in the United States as a miniature version of herding dog. The breed is easy to learn, attentive, energetic and willing to cooperate with its owner. #dogbreed #mimiatureamericanshepherd
