Thinking a lot about humanity, anti-hunger policy, the Overton window, and what I'm going to eat next.
Hunger is a political choice. Letting it happen is violence. We won’t let them cut SNAP benefits without a fight. Take action:

“Starving a child is political violence…and this is 100% preventable.” @pressley.house.gov on the upcoming SNAP benefits cliff.

USDA: We're not updating the website because of the shutdown.

Also USDA: But here's a memo implementing harmful cuts to SNAP posted during the shutdown.

Cool cool cool.

I understand Hawaii and Alaska might face steeper challenges than the other 48 states, but if these ideas make sense for 2 states, shouldn’t they make sense for all 50?

Sigh

If the news is making you feel like this, today is a good time to contact your senators today. Be like Yoko, channel that energy. #SNAPdayofaction

GOP: We must take food assistance away from immigrants

Also GOP: But what about my constituents?

🤔

Me: If it's morally or politically bad to limit SNAP for your constituents... isn't it bad for everyone?

Can we stop calling the money the federal government no longer spends as "savings" in Medicaid and SNAP?

If the money was going back to the American people, fairly, versus a cash grab for billionaires. That would could be called savings.

This is theft from families and communities.

Since the fall I've had the privilege of driving forward the most inclusive process (yet) to establish @projectbread.org state legislative agenda for 2025-2026. Today, I'm thrilled to share it with the world.

So it’s possible to be Chicken Little even when the sky is falling.

Not fucking helpful.

Medicaid has not be decimated or cut. We can and will stop that from happening.

Please Democratic Party please step up the advocacy and crack down on groups fear mongering to fundraise.

Overall great editorial from @nytimes.com but we don’t need to passively wait for these policy solutions, we can organize and advocate for them.

Also, school meals should just be free. Any barrier to access is a barrier that perpetuates stigma.
