Okay.. as a sped teacher I can tell you that 504s are abused by parents gaming the system for their children. Extra time on assessments or testing with breaks is the big one. I'm not saying 504s shouldn't exist, but it would help to limit what a 504 covers.

I think the way to combat this is put this young man front and center online. Future employers will remember his name because they kept seeing it online or this will show up with a background search.

I think this is a case of looking for your glasses and they're right in front of you. They were so sure that they had eyes on the correct plane that they didn't see what was in front of their faces.
