A couple of things
i) At this point isn't it very likely that there isn't currently large scale stocks of chemical weapons in Syria?
ii) Didn't anti-Assad folks claim that he had and used CW, but got rid of most/all of them?

More fully - you study the balkans and he has dodgy views there, you're strong on anti-Semitism and he, well ... you dont seem to be reflexively anti-American (and thus automatically pro anyone who opposed America) and so on.
