Yesterday, that hand shook Kyle MacLachlan’s hand

LaCava’s Unfinished Business is such a special discovery. Underneath the spontaneous comedic moments lies a lingering sadness constantly unsettling the beginnings of Classic hollywood romantic tropes.

There are few things I like more than the art historical and sociological liberties that old hollywood 18th-century period films take with the historical time they depict (or parody)

The Scarlett Empress takes the cuntiest crown of them all.

André Gide’s La Symphonie Pastorale very much feels like what I imagine a Catherine Breillat period film would be

Absolutely astonished that someone would say their films mean nothing as a way to flex

This is the ideal male body. You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like.

Nothing frustrates me more than seeing him hit this pose after he’s been uncharacteristically annoying all day (scratching and biting everything)

Jacques Demy/Jackie Chan : the two genders
This is John David Washington’s greatest line delivery

From now on, I will be lighting a cigarette on the 17th of January to commemorate and celebrate David Lynch

Most people might not know this but there is an art to making french indy bourgeois dramedies about how everyone cheats on everyone without consequences, and Emmanuel Mouret is one of its most skilful craftsmen

Overheard someone asking their friend if the new The Rock christmas film ‘is supposed to be quite edgy?’

Watching the unfolding collapse of the Macroniste French government, one has to wonder – who could have predicted that choosing a right-wing prime minister to lead an Assemblée dominated by the left and the far right would not go well? So fucking surprising

Dario Argento really has made a whole career out of filming women wearing a slightly albeit undoubtedly (and unnecessarily) transparent white tee without a bra

Went on their website. First customer quote says ‘I sent my book to 17 different publishers and got rejected every time’… nothing to add really, this sums it up perfectly

Seeing Wicked tonight and I’m afraid at how much my relationship to the ‘We’re so back’ culture will condition my experience

While I surprisingly enjoyed Anora, I find it to be a very mid Palme d’or… a lacking discursive depth and questionable treatment of sex workers only replicate the hollowness of the transactional relationships it paints, shrouding its characters under their stereotypical surfaces

Gladiator II really was abysmal - only Pedro Pascal’s performance is somewhat salvageable as it allows a glimpse into what the sequel should actually have been

Monia Chokri’s 3rd feature Simple comme Sylvain (2023) confirms her talent for weaving snappy comedy with emotional honesty. Philosophical conceptions of love rarely equal what it actually is: a social reality, determined by habitus, and only made viable when viewed as an act rather than a state.

I wonder how consciously ironic is Spike Lee's use of an Elia Kazan film extract to celebrate the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike on instagram
