Surprised by this take from Andy Haldane. That the RIO is in some way a regulator is either poorly informed or wilfully misconstrued. Arbitrarily halving the number of regulators is the sort of window dressing the rest of his piece takes aim at, and cutting their budgets is precisely the opposite of

Interesting that even the Economist is still talking about "deregulation" and "cutting red tape" as if this is the substantive issue. When asked, virtually no business can name a regulation they want cut. The stuff about things you have to put on signs make nice silly examples but aren't relevant...
