The article mentions the Labour Party in the UK getting a massive majority with on 60% turnout. This was because they offered nothing and their leader is a proven liar. This, I think you might want to point at the corrosive effect of capitalism rather than people not knowing what they want.

This is insane. There is a ton of research about how a significant proportion of people cannot handle a surprise bill of say £200 to 300. So, the brain trusts' response to a sign of hardship? Send in the heavies and the whole bill see what we can shake them down for.

2 problems that intersect. The energy market is an anachronism with base and dispatchable old categories not suitable for renewables as they do not fit.
Then the volatile market or the wild west as its known, is the speculators dream but terrible for everyone else, including patient capital.
