A pihole is a raspberry pi with a software router with a hosts list (local DNS) that routes target domains to nothing, a black hole. 404 not found. So ads do not even attempt to load. The addresses become unresolvable. Most operating systems support this. A pihole does it for everything on LAN-WAN.

The only time I see advertisements is when I'm at my grandpa's house. I'm watching TV with him and I'm like why do you do this.... Then of course he gives me a lecture about how I should watch advertisements because that's good for whomever.
