The one that was streaming also mentioned that they themselves are more than happy with the protections they get through Sound Cadence. I'd rather not post their info publicly on the off chance that it causes problems for them, but assuming bsky has dms I'd be happy to share there if you want.

On the last point, I'm not sure that's the case, especially after recent events. In a stream from a VA that's worked on both HSR and ZZZ, they talked briefly about a union VA for HSR that loves their role and has been trying to figure out how to return, and that they did not volunteer for this.

I hope the rest of your day is great.

This will be my last response for now since I need to sleep, but thank you for discussing with me despite our differing stances. Communication is important for people to understand each other, so I appreciate keeping it civil and well-written regardless of opinions.

Of course they don't. There should be benefits for joining, while at the same time maintaining the goal of workers' rights. Similarly, there shouldn't be repercussions for choosing not to join. Getting time-gated out of a job for not joining is ridiculous. This is a big part of where the tension is.

So vitriol is perfectly fine because things used to be worse? I'm not fine with that on either side of this argument. I think it's awful that people are celebrating others losing their jobs. I also think it's awful to organize a mob against someone for taking a job.

If the union truly cared about protecting workers then wouldn't it advocate for workers outside of the union as well? Would that not, at the very least, give them both a better public image as well as more leverage for actually protecting people? This is what irks me. Why can't we do better?

The thing people are having an issue with isn't AI or the strike, even. The thing people have an issue with is the public shaming, name calling, and ultimately the attempt to use an actual legitimate strike as a cover to manipulate people into doing their bidding for something unrelated.

Collective bargaining. However, wouldn't it be more efficient to leverage all employees rather than just union ones? There's not many people that are against the anti-AI protections. If that was truly all this was about, why is the attention targeted toward specific companies and not government?

But on that topic, taking a stance that limits someone's autonomy and puts them in an uncomfortable situation simply because they're not part of a group or viewed as less-than seems more alt-right to me.

Work towards compromise by showing willingness to compromise. This isn't even hoyo-specific, I think this is a necessary step as-is regardless of the current situation. Labeling anyone who doesn't think the same as alt-right is kind of disingenuous and shuts down further discussion.

Get rid of the need for Taft-Hartleys. The union shouldn't be working just for its own members. It should work to benefit all talent, regardless of whether they're in it or not. If people hate the way the union is perceived, then make steps to change that perception.

SAG-AFTRA wants hoyo to sign an agreement. Hoyo doesn't want to sign it. I don't think either of them have talents' best interests in mind. Both of them are goal-oriented toward their own benefit, at the expense of VAs AND players.

whether they need them right now or not. What I am against is people that look down on others that aren't in their clique and see them as less-than. Even more so when said clique invades others' spaces and starts demanding everyone pay up and join them if they want to stay in the space.
April 24, 2025 at 8:20 PM
I'm not going to both-sides this either. The claim that this, in regards to hoyo, was about AI is and always has been a lie. Now, do I think hoyo wouldn't do things that cut costs if they could? I'm not dumb. Of course they would. I'm not against talent getting extra protections, regardless of

I'm going to be honest here. I'm a 30 year old disabled gay trans dude, I'm about as far from alt-right as you can get. I'm not anti-union. I'm not pro-corpo or billion dollar companies. However, I think limiting freedom of choice is wrong. Monopolies are wrong. Coercion is wrong. Lying is wrong.
