Yes, the Web has been a "grown up" for quite a while. So just like Information Technology (IT) is no longer a child of Finance, the Web is no longer a child/subset of IT.

Oh, and the Web was NEVER a child/subset of Marketing. The Marketing industry just likes to kidnap/hijack everything!
