To be clear, these weren't a few errant, hateful missives shared amongst kids. This was 2,900 pages of repugnant, repulsive hate speech shared by adults at the organizational level of an official Republican Party organization. And most importantly, this was learned behavior.

Campaigns today automatically budget for the anticipated criminal damage and theft of campaign material. Security systems are added to homes and families make escape plans.

Earnest discussions at the kitchen table are had between family members before they even decide to run, out of fear that they may become the next Melissa & Mark Hortman and are assassinated.
