If you follow me and want *more me* next month, do consider:

- A monster giving an art class, matinee on the 16th
- A Venetian salon of Strozzi and celebration, evening 16th (sold out!)
- An auction of an occultist's artefacts, evening 17th.

Book for those remaining via Drayton Arms (link below):

Amid everything else, have discovered that, for the first time, one of my TTRPGs is being played a conference!* So if anyone's in Poland next February, do head over for a game of shared music-making.

*If digital translation serves me well.

It is the time of year where one ought to announce a year of activity one is involved in. But since this a platform with a character limit, behold a single image.

(Obscuring many diary gaps, so if you need a writer/director/interactive performer, do consider this a less-than-subtle nod.)

Today's discovery: there is a film, that is not Westworld, about an immersive experience.

Please may the sector be beholding: Austenland.

In which the immersive experience goes wrong in entirely different ways.

Been a while since I released a #TTRPG, so please behold Awe-Borg, a rules-light game of Lovecraftian horror amid a vast, uncaring landscape.

If you've enjoyed any of my work in horror theatre/opera, where communities struggle to endure, take a look:

Don't forget - there's a little over a fortnight until this little salon returns, featuring @cnlester.bsky.social and another of their long-dead friends, Strozzi.

Plus entertaining interactivities to bring you into our Renaissance salon. Argue about poetry! Read dolorous poetry! Find a patron!

A last call-out for the crowdfunder - it's been amazing seeing a flood of donations come in over the last few hours, and with about 13 hours left, would you like to join them?

And it's time to leave Longborough after the #LFORing.

Leb wohl, all. It's been a pleasure.

ONE MORE RIDE:

The Longborough Ring Cycle opens today! Been a pleasure getting to work on it with the whole team; toi toi to all.

(Pictured: Götterdammerung curtain call, with full orchestra).

Have, inevitably, written some blogs...

Travelling yesterday from the Lovecraftian horror of The Key of Dreams to Longborough Festival Opera's Die Walküre (as part of the wider Ring Cycle team).

Being part of a 24 hour show down to a mere 14.5 hours. Plus a delightful number of sheep nearby.

And great teams.

The right way to start a directing day:

(First day onsite at The Key of Dreams)
April 23, 2024 at 7:29 AM
Packing up The Key of Dreams to head to Wales - many gorgeous and secret things (there's an amazing painting you can see on their socials), but for now, am going to share the thing I think we've got most of:

(Brilliance, not ink).

Who wants a map of the Lovecraftian Dreamlands?

Heading out for a two-day sprint on The Key of Dreams, and remembered making this as I refreshed my memory of the Dreamlands cycle and tried to make it all fit together.

Do we adhere loyally to that canon? No. Was it still fun to make a map? Yes.

Really enjoying tidying up Into The Dreamlands.

A few favourites from the art made during it:
February 13, 2024 at 12:01 PM
Break a leg to the London Lovecraft Festival team tonight - head over to the Drayton Arms for a night of storytelling and new writing.

Or grab one of the last tickets for Into The Dreamlands tomorrow: an interactive exploration of Dream, and the first time I'll play a human(ish) onstage since 2014.

Don't forget that the Soup looms!

A chance to come and celebrate the cold and some cool upcoming interactive theatre projects!

And, hidden in the undergrowth, the threatened Bonus Soup lurks...

Turns out, after years of having directed* for 'nearly a decade', I crossed that point this summer.

So, anyone who's endured my work since I accidentally ended up directing a sketch comedy show: thanks.

I can now direct without a mace.

*Including pre-professional work.
November 19, 2023 at 9:39 AM
Interactive Soup is bubbling away, and will be ready soon!

Come and interact with other makers, soup, and some interesting pitches!

Also discover why one possible bonus culinary contribution has been described as "threatening"!

Soup!

More to come, but for now, thank you to Theatre Deli for the past fortnight's residency developing Paradise Craved.

Enormously appreciated as a community and a space for developing practice and work, and I'll look forward to what lies ahead.
November 4, 2023 at 8:12 PM
Thanks to today's wonderful test-guests for Paradise Craved. Some delightful things to celebrate and to digest over time.

And especially to Theatre Deli for the space and support to do it. Looking forward to a final day here before the residency ends.
