It is, but more in a spiritual sense than a literal one. I can't quite explain why, but despite none of these games really playing like each other, they feel like they do.

There are a lot of people in Mexico and South America that never got any consoles when they were kids but can kick your ass like nothing in any NeoGeo game. The "American VG magazine" experience was always extremely narrow.

You should try the game! La abadía del crimen (Abbey of crime) it's an absolute classic spanish ZX spectrum/Amstrad CPC adventure game from the late 80's. There's even a free modern remake on steam:

Our tech overlords are not interested in relieving humanity from the "burden" of everyday life tasks.

What they want is to make it *impossible* for any of us to navigate everyday life without passing through a toll booth that they control.

Nos obligan a hablar como siervos pusilánimes, en un lenguaje suave y poco provocador, nos quieren blandos de cojones, incluso nos roban las palabras para definir sus crímenes: son violadores, asesinos, genocidas, nazis y tiranos. No desviven, matan. No hacen la G palabra, cometen genocidio.

I think a lot of the shittyness gets kinda lost in translation. Watching this movie as a native Spanish speaker was torture.
