Amusingly this is how I found out the winter steam sales have started :P

Neat! I miss doing game dev. Fun to play around with ideas and see the results.

I kinda miss Heroes though :P

Thankfully with all the awesome indie games that keep releasing, I've barely noticed until someone points it out.

Yeah I do think it's still a losing prospect to design a game for just VR given the market size. But having a VR option for games that are primarily focused on desktop players is nice and not as much of a cost. Many of the games I like playing in VR are done through excellent mods.

I thought the same about Linux gaming before Valve made their push in that area and now I haven't had to dual boot for gaming in years(except for VR). Whether or not Valve succeeds, as someone who likes VR I do appreciate their efforts.

Unfortunately I already bought it at launch, so I had to gift to a friend instead.

There are so many games from the early internet that are now lost to time. There was a QBasic game called Warriors of Hesran that had a demo and was actually sold. I bought it by mailing an envelope with coins in it. I think it was actually the first game I bought myself.

I was in middle school in the computer lab in the 90s when the teacher brought in a CD with a bunch of shareware games. Of which I found DBQuest, copied it to a floppy and brought it home. Ended up getting me to go down the DCGames rabbit hole. So unfortunately it did leave an impression. :P

If those companies are barely surviving while fleecing their workers, maybe the owners should take your advice and not be above doing those jobs nobody wants to take. They can set a good example for people and demonstrate what a good work ethic looks like instead of complaining about lazy people.

Oh I'm absolutely part of that problem and you're just exposing yourself for who you are if you think that is ridiculous. I'm not sure what you think you have to gain by trying to shame the working class and insisting poverty wages are appropriate for hard work.

I mean you can insult people all you want, but it's not going to motivate them into doing work that just isn't compensating them appropriately for their time. When people are paid well and treated respectfully they will do most jobs. If companies can't get workers they're doing something wrong.

You can find news articles of business owners complaining that people don't want to work anymore going back over a century. It's not that people feel these jobs are beneath them it's that they don't want to do them for starvation wages. When companies pay well and offer benefits they get workers.

Ack. Yeah I'm kinda worried about them while in Kansas.

Been so long since I played that.

It doesn't even really taste like grape. Just tastes purple.

Yeah, I'm going to participate, but I can't see it as being anything more than a blip if it's for a day. People will just do their shopping on the surrounding days causing a boost there.

Yeah things are scary :(

Kinda like bringing up Monopoly to anyone who's into board games enough to have played a lot of different ones 😛

I never got super serious with it but I've enjoyed the campaigns I played and hanging out with friends. I guess it's like how some people can casually enjoy popular video games, but to anyone serious about the hobby they realize they are shallow and there are much better niche games.

My first tabletop experience was 2nd edition DnD in college. There was junk food, bad puns, bad acting, staying up too late enjoying the company of friends and annoying the person who lived in the apartment above me by being too noisy at 2 in the morning.

There is just so much going wrong right now that it's hard to focus on any individual worry for long before getting hammered by the next thing to be terrified with. I just want to get out of the US and find some quiet corner of the world and just be a hermit for a decade or so.

Companies doing DEI is just virtue signaling. They will exploit labor and the planet regardless of the consequences to make as much money as possible. That said I do prefer it when companies feel the need to virtue signal to look good rather being openly terrible to pander to a facist.
