~20 years ago I regularly "commuted" LA area-SF area on weekends to see my now-spouse. Took about a month to realize that 4x out of 5 my trip would be FASTER if I'd driven rather than flown, even with no checked baggage & car pickup @airport on arrival. Flight delays were only a small part of this.
