Chonky dumpster boy 🦝 • Pretty bad at Twitter • I copied that floppy • He/him, I guess
I felt the same way about the Bush years back in '08 when Obama was elected and look where we are now.

the fact that both of those groups have put out at least eight albums that I haven't listened to since I grew out of my early 20s rivethead phase makes me want to crumble into a layer of old man dust

I was only vaguely familiar with John Money via the Weakerthans song "Hymn of the Medical Oddity" about David Reimer. After skimming the wiki article about Money, holy hell was he a monster and probably a pedophile.

Christ, at least our leadership pretends that LLMs will enable our existing headcount to accomplish their unrealistic roadmap instead of whatever the hell that is.

I touch computers for a living, and my director, manager, and several of my peers are true believers in genAI. And one of our senior exec's vision of an "AI future" makes me want to move to a shack in northern Montana and never deal with electricity ever again.

soup du jour, hon hon hon

i wish. execs in my company are convinced that ai is the future, and my manager thinks we'll unlock unlimited productivity once we get cursor seats. end result is that i get to spend my time looking at slop PRs that are half kind of okay, and half completely broken

that Scatman John song that goes "bee bah bah bah da dope" occupies that part of my mind that remembers those SNL sketches with the club guys and that one Haddaway song

haha, yeah. using the dual tape decks on my panasonic boombox to make a copy of my friend's NKOTB tape in exchange for a copy of my mom's Milli Vanilli tape is one of those things that i distinctly remember doing as a kid
November 9, 2025 at 8:20 AM
all of those except the boombox on the shoulder (batteries were expensive) and the encyclopedias (encyclopedia collections were also expensive) because my family was poor and/or cheap back in the day.

it's kinda like that episode of star trek that's about wesley crusher and ashley judd resisting everyone's pressure to play some AR game about guiding floating discs into funnels that make the player nut or whatever
November 1, 2025 at 8:27 AM
I know the feeling. I touch computers for a living and management is convinced that ai will make programmers more productive. the end result is that I get to waste my time reviewing ai slop code that doesn't actually work.

linear TV, as well. they've been airing ads that are basically "hey, <city> cops, have you been ordered to stand down because of woke? join ice and we'll let you attack minorities with impunity. plus, we offer a signing bonus and college loan forgiveness" during football games

skipping through some of the tracks on their debut on youtube makes me kinda regret that my evangelical friends in HS were into normie stuff like micheal w. smith, petra, and jars of clay or whatever.

even though I wasn't exactly into jesus during my rivethead phase, i would have been into them

it'd probably be less effort for them if they put just put widevine on YT content and sued anyone offering ways to bypass it under DMCA anti-circumvention laws.
