Not sure what the apology is for, my initial response to you is just something I consider when people talk about pedophiles in positions of power, or people who are most certainly pedophiles without a care about the hurt they cause.

It applies to abusers too. There is a point in time when over extending kindness to people who will do nothing but abuse it makes it abundantly clear that some of them are not going to change until they die.
