I firmly agree with this reply. I'm a type one diabetic myself and "person with type one diabetes" winds me up to no end when it's used for me. I feel like it dances around my diabetes as though it's dirty when it's just a fact of my life. But for others, I know it's empowering to ditch "diabetic".

I think the papers were presented to her primarily by students at my uni, but I do wonder if enough people (colleagues, students or otherwise) talking about it or evidencing it could bring about change to a larger effect.

If I remember rightly, my prof's change of mind came from folks presenting her with psych papers by autistic people discussing PFL and IFL in the context of autism. The general idea from the papers were that PFL is generally least liked, but the autistic person in question should always be consulted

I don't like it for myself, but I do accept it has a place in the community and if someone ever asked me to use it for them, I would. Had a psych professor who last year demanded only person first be used, then this year overcorrected after complaints and said only use identity first.. come on man.
