My favorite is how in Star Trek TNG, if part of the glossy screens in the background was reflecting light inconveniently, they would just tape up black paper. Couldn't see it when it aired on CRTs originally. But now it's very obvious.

I was a kid so I forgive myself for calling 3.5s "hard disks." No one explained to me that only the plastic housing was hard but the disk inside was actually floppy.

Currently I'm leaning less towards civil war and more towards states increasing their autonomy in the face of a severely weakened federal government. Increased political violence, of course, since we're already there.

I literally jumped up and gasped when I watched the original The Thing from 1951 because one of the main rooms had the exact same layout as the cabin in The Hateful Eight.

A separate SSD is a good choice. But depending on how you have it set up, you could just have the Linux OS on the drive and from there access what's stored on the other OS's drive. That way you could get away with a cheaper, small SSD. Just an idea.
