Volunteer surgeon Prof. Nick Maynard on the malnutrition he witnessed inside a Gaza neonatal unit: "'Skin and bones’ doesn't do it justice. I had tears in my eyes seeing how unbelievably thin these children are. A doctor who tried to bring formula feed in, had it confiscated by Israeli authorities."

We are honoured that our investigative coverage of Israel's military conduct in Gaza has been recognised as a Pulitzer Prize finalist. This award belongs most to our Palestinian colleagues, Hajar Barb and Hazem Balousha, whose quiet bravery has always been the engine behind the work.

For all the focus on prisons like Sednaya, it was intel branches like this one in Aleppo that kept the security state going. 100s of them, surveilling every aspect of life. Torture implements still hung from the ceiling yday; prisoners had carved the no. of days they spent there on the cell walls.

Palestinian artists from Gaza are planning to stage a “biennale” as an act of defiance against Israel’s military onslaught. About 50 artists will exhibit their work within the besieged strip, and are looking for art galleries to host exhibitions overseas. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/n...
