2/🧵 New piece with @jakemgrumbach.bsky.social in @NewRepublic: We analyzed 60,000+ respondents in the 2024 Cooperative Election Study. Gen Z has the lowest racial resentment of any generation. The generational shift overwhelms the education divide that supposedly defines modern politics.
The Shocking Truth About Gen Z Voters Is That They’re Pretty Great
Stop panicking: They are the most progressive generation ever, especially on race. If that surprises you, you’ve been listening to the wrong story.

Lovely cut. For some reason, the beginning reminded me of Blue Magic’s Side Show:)

My mom had colon cancer at 48; she survived and is fine years later. Her mom died of it in her 80’s. My brother and I have had regular scopes since we each were 25 years old given family history. No colon cancer for either of us. Scopes work👍😊. Sorry for the PSA but if it helps… 2/2

Colonoscopies aren’t pleasant, though the prep is better than it used to be. But, given an experienced GI doc doing the procedure (lots of practice is good, like with most things), it is a great way to rid yourself of precancerous polyps before they can develop into cancer. 1/2…

Are you asking the physician for a referral for a colonoscopy, and are being asked to wait until March for a consult to authorize it? That seems too long; is there another GI physician you can see or is this your primary GP who then needs to refer to a GI specialist?

I have family history on both sides of heart issues. Given good health insurance at the time, which is not always possible:( I saw a cardiologist to check for underlying issues; included bloodwork for cholesterol levels, an echocardiogram and a stress test I think. Brought some peace of mind:)

But especially, if at all possible, get preventative testing done: colonoscopy (can catch polyps prior to becoming cancerous), cardiac work up (not cancer-involved but still important), and for those with the relevant parts, mammograms etc. Do early tests to establish a baseline:).

I have similar worries (and am not a doctor) and try to divide my worries into what I can’t control (so for those spiritually inclined, some sense of let go and let God, or some such) and those that I can try to influence, i.e. via diet, exercise, etc.

I miss them… their first album was the first import vinyl album I had ever bought. I was working at Star Records (RIP) in SF when it first came out…
