Wow, I read/listened to some great books in June. My favourite for this month (and possibly this year) is Catherine Chidgey's amazing 'The Book of Guilt' which I read a physical copy of. #BookSky

Harriet Walter, who has played many of Shakepeare's woman, has imagined speeches for them, exploring their deeper feelings and motivations. I actually preferred the sections preceding her imaginative takes, where Walter discusses the characters, the plays and her experiences on stage. #booksky

From the first paragraph, All Fours by Miranda July had me hooked, but as the story progressed and got progressively weirder, I was less engaged. Still, I would recommend All Fours to particular people, but not generally. What I admired most about it was July's courage as a writer.

Kerry Anderson's WIP,The Women of Parker's Flat, is set in rural Victoria and centres around a businesswoman and her intuitive daughter. It is an exploration and celebration of bush women, now and in the past, and has the warmth of a Fiona Palmer novel with a dash of Picnic at Hanging Rock.

I adored Jonathan Coe's The Proof of My Innocence. It's clear that Coe had a wonderful time devising this clever, fun and engrossing political thriller/cosy mystery/detective novel/memoir/brilliant satire. Highly recommended.

Rachel Khong's Real Americans is a real feat - three POVs, a moving timeline, and a mystery at its core. This complex story kept my attention though the ending left me a little flat.

Meta is trying to stop the distribution of this memoir by Sarah Wynn-Williams. I just downloaded the audio version on @librofm. Buy it if you can, order it from your local bookshop, request it everywhere: #booksky #stopbanningbooks #besubversivereadabook #bookbanning #meta #oligarchs

Dear #booksky #literaryagents what could this mean? My submission (highlighted) is surrounded by rejections. Does this mean my sub is under consideration? Lost? Should I follow up? Querying is a psychological challenge 🤣#queryingmynovel #query #queryingauthor #writer #author #help!

In The Trees, Everett plays with genre and form (in a manner that brings to mind the film Get Out) while incisively exposing racism in America. It's moving, unique and a page-turner. @percivaleverett.bsky.social #BookSky #BookSkyBooks #BeSubversiveReadABook
