“Last month CPJ warned of an Israeli military smear campaign against Anas which it feared was manufacturing evidence to justify his assassination… It’s becoming clear that just b/c Israeli authorities say a journalist is a hamas fighter, that can’t be taken at face value.” Speaking on Monocle Radio

Stop killing our colleagues. Stop banning us from working. Stand up for journalists and the free press before it’s too late.

Our colleagues Al Jazeera reporters Anas al-Sharif & Mohammed Qraiqeh, & cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal & Moamen Aliwa have been killed in a strike on a tent for journalists near Al Shifa hospital. They worked relentlessly through bombing & hunger to document this war. Please remember them

“It’s important to point out that once you reach this state of acute starvation, of famine, it’s not a switch - this won’t suddenly stop by sending some food in. Irreversible damage is now being done to the body, even for those who survive. It’s not about ‘pauses’ in bombing to send in a bit of aid…

“Instead of cheering on one party to the conflict over another as if civilian suffering is a mere sideshow, states must ensure protection of civilians. Both Israeli & Iranian authorities have time & again demonstrated utter disregard for international human rights & humanitarian law” - @amnesty.org

This is the situation for so many families in Tehran right now. A city of 10 million people told to evacuate. Most have nowhere to go. There’s little petrol & the roads are out of the capital gridlocked. For those who can’t get out there are no sirens, no bomb shelters. No warning & nowhere to hide.

The UN is desperate for humanitarian funding after huge cuts this year. This is an aid lifeline for millions of people. All they need is just ONE PERCENT of world nations’ defence spending last year. Read that again. We spend 100x more ending lives than we’d need to save them.
