A momentary respite from doomscrolling. Breathe in. Watch the turtle walk on the beach. Breathe out. Repeat.

The “feminism isn’t fair” guy has moved from texting to calling. Here’s today’s number. I’m sure he changes it frequently.

I experienced a moment of pure joy this morning: at the end of my walk under this glorious sky, the best walking song ever-It’s Raining Men-came on to end my walk. I danced the last few steps. Everything is terrible, but I can’t let them steal my joy. I need that energy to keep going.

PSA-the guy who was texting female law professors to complain that law schools were anti-male and that feminism had won seems to be back. I deleted the first text before screenshotting-here’s the follow up.

Today, most members of the Maryland Carey Law faculty sent a letter to our students “reaffirming our commitment to the rule of law…and upholding the precepts of a fair and impartial legal system.” Proud to be part of this faculty and this place.

As a Skadden Fellow, I could not be more dismayed to hear that Skadden’s pre-capitulation might affect the fellow selection process. For those unfamiliar with it, the Skadden Fellowship provides lawyers to those who would otherwise have no access to justice.

If you're in Baltimore tomorrow and want to talk reproductive freedoms, please join us. Sara Ainsworth of @ifwhenhow.bsky.social and I will be talking about our paper on introducing evidence of intimate partner violence in self-managed abortion prosecutions post-Dobbs.

Taking a day off from work and doomscrolling to read books, watch Sherlock, and bake cookies. Best NYT recipe comment ever:

You know, @govwesmoore.bsky.social, incarcerating the ill and elderly is very costly. Maybe you could urge the General Assembly to pass medical and geriatric parole reform? And use your commutation power to free those who pose no threat to society? I’d love to see my tax dollars at work that way…

Every year, my husband gives me a pile of celebrity bios/memoirs (with the occasional serious bio/history thrown in). I’m going to start with @chrisstein.bsky.social this year. Happy holidays-I’ll go back to depressing gender violence content soon (I hear Connie Chung named her sexual harassers)…

Imperfect Victims has been out for two years, and I continue to receive messages from incarcerated people saying the book resonated with their experiences and made them feel seen. If you want to send a copy inside to an incarcerated survivor, please let me know and I’ll arrange it.

Survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) are often forced to choose between the violence of the state or their partner.

I talked to No Body Criminalized about "criminalized survivors" and abolition feminism.
