I don't think 🌹 stood a chance after the election. The FR media were down on them like a ton of bricks for literally every breath the new Govt took. I've never seen anything like this.

Trafalgar Sq used to be an island until part of it was pedestrianised in front of the National Gallery. I remember the furore over that too - oh but the taxis! the buses! traffic flow!

I've traipsed along Oxford Street since I was dragged along as a toddler in the 60s, when mum loved to browse in Dickens and Jones (couldn't afford anything!) And it's always cried out to be pedestrianised.
