I was thinking that CCS could be needed on ‘legacy’ coal-powered generation.

I’m neither over nor under it. I just think that post-combustion CCS will still be required even when the new electricity mix will be predominantly renewable. And DAC may also be required. It’s got a long way to go to get cheaper, I know.

I can see why new coal-fired power plus carbon capture is inferior to renewables plus storage and/ or gas, but what about the old stuff?

If existing coal-fired power with , say, thirty years’ life ahead is to be decarbonised, will carbon capture be required?
