Dread didn't have those obnoxious aeon abilities that turned every enemy into a damage sponge and integrated the parry better, so hey - improvement there at least.

My biggest criticism of the remake was that with all the flaws I could point to it failed to be clearly better than an early gameboy game, which - that game being a masterpiece for the circumstances it was made in or not, is a low bar to clear when you can copy it as a roadmap.

I mean that game being terrible is one of the reasons I'm not hyped for prime 4 despite it being one of my all time favourite franchises :p

(Yes most people liked BotW but I'm not actually all that thrilled about Open Field Simulator)

enemy" - SAX is dull on a replay of the game because you know where she's going to show up and it's only in a few rooms, but the solution to that wasn't to make a less interesting enemy and fill the game with clearly marked "nothing's going to happen here but a chase" rooms.

I'm perfectly allowed to say massive if I follow it with "IMO" :p - I at least acknowledge it improved on the much worse flaws their first metroid game had. To clarify on the 3D models, as with any 2.5D game using those they allowed for much less precise movement and made it harder to pick things

I might get this some time, probably will eventually, but the motorbike preview took it from "I will buy a switch 2 for this" down to "...Eh, this is probably pretty bad."

Hah yeah, who cares about treating children with the same respect as everyone else right? It's impossible to have diagetic tonally consistent tutorials, which is of course why nobody got into the series when we were younger and getting into it. :p

I'd say that super is *okay* but inferior to the GBA titles, and that Metroid 2 is my favourite incarnation of Metroid 2, with AM2R coming second and the nintendo remake of it by the dread team dead last.

But the emmi zones? Homogenous, taking up a ton of space, reducing the variety and blandifying the exploration of the entire game... Plus they're all the same encounter - a pain in the ass repettitive but easy evasion game with the punishment for failure being... Instant death. in a Metroid. Ugh.

Well, I can understand liking extremely long, hard boss fights that force you to use missiles over the beam almost exclusively (I like using the beam pretty frequently, damnit!), I can even understand that some people like QTEs even though I'm of the opinion they died out for good reason...

Dread has some *massive* flaws IMO. If nothing else the 3D model graphical style gets in the way of gameplay, the EMMIs add nothing valuable to the game experience and... Boss fights in Metroid shouldn't be *tedious*.
