“I am that we sit here upon the edge of a world-old ocean while sensible people sleep.” - ERB / Rachael Leigh Cook once said I was a sharp dresser and I’ve lived in that moment ever since / He/Him
That’s what I’m talking about though: people refusing the parse the difference between an in-joke and a literal canon event. People are so desperate for the modern world to make sense that they turn that scrutiny on a fictional character because they feel they can control that instead

That’s just a dumb internet theory from 15 years ago because we’re dumb pattern seeking animals and kids struggle with the idea that not all the pieces fit in a franchise.

It’s literally just a dumb internet theory from 2010 that people took seriously because we’re pattern seeking animals.

Honestly, with the rise of alt-right provocateurs and evil people, who wants to see a movie where an antifascist spy saves the day? No one wants to leave a movie into a world worse than what was on the big screen.

as terrible as Schumer is, he’s played his part, now let the R house, senate, and executive tear themselves apart over this

More than anything I love how it’s grind is hidden behind a closed loop. Go out, scavage, leave. You can do or ignore missions. Aside from one game where we were jumped by randoms, I’ve run into nothing but cool people looking to work together.

* The show commits a common sin: flashbacks to the 60s and 70s don’t look right and it’s usually the clothing. Demons has Mulder seeing repressed memories and his child-self is wearing a striped shirt that looks like it’s out of a 1997 Delia’s catalogue.

* I do not remember Gillian’s hair being so perfectly red? It suits her but the lack of gradient (I’m using that word a lot this week?) is weird on camera. It is, as of S4, absolutely perfectly styled. Absurdly so.

* Conspiracy episodes usually suck for a variety of reasons, namely that the show runs on mood while that story arc runs on being literal, so the best conspiracy episodes (Wetwired, Demons, Erlenmeyer Flask) only let you briefly peak behind the curtain, but not letting you through.

* Anderson makes a credible unflappable medical doctor in most scenes, but I rarely believe Duchovny being Oxford educated or a conspiracy theorist. However he has an odd talent for being much better in episodes where he’s playing to character instead of plot

* Gillian Anderson is very very short compared to everyone else.
* The show has zero idea of distances. Driving from DC to Rhode Island should take like 8 hours without breaks, not 2.
* The show continuously picks good guest stars because they don’t seem the type to be on this show

(I do think horror fans skew as intelligent, but again, that’s a sliding scale too)
