In the E3 2016 demo of Breath of the Wild, Sheikah text on the guidance stone somehow references the poor translation of Zero Wing with "All your base are". The final game replaced it with a reference to the first Zelda game instead.

The blue shield

In early footage of A Link Between Worlds Link can be seen with a blue colored shield. When the shield is seen again in footage from the August 7 2013 Nintendo Direct, it has been recolored into brownish orange, which was also kept in the final game. The blue colored shield was not removed though, as the captain of the Hyrule soldiers still uses one.

The Save Data Update Channel for Skyward Sword contains DLC items for Animal Crossing on Wii. The assets and the banner song suggest the channel was repurposed hastily from an unreleased Animal Crossing channel of unknown intent.

The Tower of Spirits is 30 floors high in the Japanese version compared to the 31 in other versions. This discrepancy is because floor 25 was made optional in the Japanese release and was relocated behind a secret wall in the corner of the floor. It rewards a treasure worth 500 rupees

Three shelves in Lynna Village's post office use a different design which accidentally have the breakable property set, resulting into interesting interactions.

This was fixed in the European version by simply using the other design for all shelves.

While the posing hippo in Link's Awakening is well known, what's less talked about is the portrait itself that Schule Donavitch is working on. Pressing "A" in front of the portrait opens a new screen showing what it looks like. Many have wondered if the painting is meant to represent something specific, though the idea has also been dismissed due to its abstract nature. An unexpected development occurred when internal Nintendo files were leaked online in 2020, including source code and assets for Link's Awakening. Among the hundreds of files were early scratchpads used by character designer Shigefumi Hino. The following art containing alternate takes on the portrait and the file's name, "hana-e" (nose picture) revealing that the painting is actually an extreme close-up of the hippo's nostril! With this knowledge the red and green colors the DX version and the 2019 remake went with come across quite unfortunate.

Jabu-Jabu's dungeon map oversight #zelda #ocarinaoftime
The dungeon map in Jabu-Jabu's Belly is obtained upon defeating the red tentacle located in the westernmost room of split pathway room. It is not required to open the chest, which also makes it impossible to obtain after completing the dungeon, as accessing the room requires pressing a blue switch down with Ruto. This oversight was noticed and corrected in Ocarina of Time 3D, where a box will appear near the entrance of the preceding room upon completing the dungeon.

The red, green and blue slimy things around Jabu-Jabu are actually part of Barinade. This connection was made clearer in Ocarina of Time 3D where the two other tentacles attached to the ceiling during the battle were recolored to match the slimy things.

Jam Session goof #zelda #majorasmask
During the jam session cutscene Zoras can be seen gathering in front of the door to listen in. In the original game the door is wrong, leading to Mikau and Tijo's room. This error was caught and corrected in Majora's Mask 3D.
