And that’s exactly what Trump’s backers want - the public to refuse to support the BBC and then they get rid of a thorn in their side. I can’t imagine a world without the BBC but I know it will be less informed, educated and honest.

Presumably the idea is to try and bankrupt the BBC with legal costs and for the public to refuse to pay for the resulting TV licence increase.

He agreed to give a lecture to the student chemistry society at the Uni of St Andrews and didn’t cancel when he won the Nobel prize - he was a brilliant, entertaining speaker and we were v lucky because he could have ditched us for much more lucrative bookings.
