Law, electoral politics, media, philosophy, hot takes, etc. | he/him | All lies and jest
Per usual, the Guardian does a better job of covering this issue.

Nothing new here, but it continues to be wildly irresponsible (probably purposeful, if we’re being honest) of the NYT to continue to present the claims of fascists without acknowledging the near-certainty that they are lies.

I’m starting to get the sense this has become less about the specific issues that animate the ruling class in NYC and America and more of a general rage that they fired every weapon they have at Zohran and he just walked right through the explosions. He’s rendered them impotent and they hate it.

"You know, you guys only won because you were bored and had nothing else to do," I say from the burning wreckage of my sinking ship. My enemies on their own vessel do not hear me; they're faced the other way, laughing and high-fiving.

Question: will allowing the Republicans to control the House forever because of gerrymandering lead to a nationwide anti-gerrymandering law, simply because everyone will be so inspired by California’s shining example? Can anyone actually say that with a straight face?
October 31, 2025 at 12:32 PM
Oh, is being unable to hold representatives to account bad? How about a House permanently tilted toward Republicans, would they ever be held to account in that environment?
October 31, 2025 at 12:32 PM
Here the author argues that, because it wouldn’t totally counteract Republicans gerrymandering efforts, there’s no point in doing it. But isn’t a marginally fair world still a better one? This type of thinking justifies not bothering to improve anything in any context if it isn’t a perfect solve.

Lmao, they booed Chuck Schumer at the OPERA?? He should honestly just consider resigning at this point. If they don't like him there, they don't like him anywhere. Nobody is buying what he's selling anymore (or any other member of Dem leadership, for that matter).
