Did what I could to push back on misinformation on x/twitter the past year after years there, going to get back to work on here with Baseball & US history, the negro leagues & more again. Starting it all off with a pic of 2 of my boys, their new puppy & some homemade Carne En Su Jugo seems solid.

Frederick Douglass- peerless orator, Father of the Abolitionist Movement, writer, statesman, advisor to Presidents, and honorary member of the Mutual Base Ball Club of Washington DC. His son Charles would play for the club & serve as team President in the 1860's & 1870's.

Baseball Hall of Famer Larry Doby integrated not just 1 but 2 leagues & 2 sports. The 1st African-American to play in the American League in 1947 for the Cleveland Indians, in 1948 he broke the color barrier in the American Basketball League for the Paterson Crescents, the forerunner of the NBA.

Not sure how many baseball players have had an entire run of cards about their life, but that is what makes the Cool Papa Comments set from 1976 D&S Enterprises pretty unique. Along with my autographed version of 1 of them, I've been able to pick up 8 of the 14 cards. Some day the rest, some day!

My favorite all-time baseball player is James Cool Papa Bell. He passed away in 1991, shortly before I had the opportunity to meet nearly 30 former Negro Leagues players during a benefit weekend at Lackawanna County Stadium in 1992. More on this set of cards to come.
