The first comment I received this morning—on Christmas—was from a literary agent complaining that I focus on Black & brown authors.
This is why the work I do matters. As long as we are underrepresented in rooms where decisions are made, Black authors will suffer.

Trying to figure out how much time I can realistically dedicate to reading every day. Usually I read in giant chunks and then don’t read again for weeks at a time, but I want to build up a daily habit.

I think the “do book influencers even read” conversation is just as tired as the “you didn’t really read that many books” conversation.
Maybe there isn’t actually a quota we need to stick to. Maybe we can just read however much we want and talk about books whether you liked our number or not. Lol

Love that I was able to write and edit a book! But now I’m staring at the Google doc for the sequel, realizing I gotta start that process all over again. 😅 I’m excited but also impatient, but I need something to focus on while I’m trying to get book one published.
