Yes, and nailing themselves to things,as far as I remember.But you’re right,coming from that era of the zeitgeist does lend it some credence.suppose the whole point of it was the absolute commitment (body et al) to your artwork. Not that absolute commitment requires sacrifices of the flesh,mind you.

…do still find it kind of stunning(slash)shocking how much ketchup and mayonnaise the man can drink. His diet aside - definitely in my top 3 favourite artists.
