Does that take away the quality or the passion involved? Of course not!

But to say “gaming was sacred” is beyond childish, it’s fetishistic and alienating.

Also… what about those devs? Their histories, *their* passion, isn’t that more important than yours as just a consumer?

Like, yeah, the exploitative conditions as we see them today are different and worse. But the “we didn’t have guides or the internet, we could just game” this “making sacred” is fantasy.

This was AN INDUSTRY some tendencies, along with the scale changed, but not its purpose: make money.
