Lifelong student of philosophy. Autodidact that is always searching for truths.
The poorest states we have are red states, and they're going to be hit the hardest by this, and they won't have the resources to deploy National Guard or have food programs ready. These states typically rely on Federal assistance, which won't be available during the shutdown.

It's a priority because the only tool Trump has is a culture war.

Yes, but we've seen that public opinion and court orders matter very little to the current executives. He told us what he would do, be a dictator, and he's doing it. We may have to endure four years of this, and hope he leaves at the end. What if he doesn't leave? Who would stop him?

The only path forward I see is to pass an amendment that enshrines basic human rights to core services, but this is a form of socialism, and will be rejected from the start. We're still heavily influenced by McCarthyism, and we still consider any nation that is not Capitalist an enemy.

This of course is not without extreme challenges, and I still think it is a far fetched idea. As long as we have a very conservative minority that spills into a group that represents almost half the country, we will be divided when we try to make progress.

We have seen new parties try to join the scene, and they're co-opted and folded in, or they're ignored. I think one of the only reasonable exceptions we may see is the Republican party becoming less important and a subsequent fracture of the Dems into old and new.

@atrupar.com @meidastouch.com @aaronparnas.bsky.social Need to blow this up. This is insidious.

I'd love to! My office is nearly wall-to-wall books as well. I do own a Kobo where I can download and read any info I want without intervention.

Just be careful if all of your literature is on a Kindle. Amazon has been known to change versions and pull copies. You don't own your content.

Biden did some great things for America but at the same time helped genocide happen. It’s a very mixed bag, and I’m not too happy about it. Par for the course I suppose.

And the reason why democrats lost is because they didn’t differentiate Harris from Biden. She had to run on his policies and that hurt her. The dems also are trying to play the same game while the republicans break the rules. Stop blaming the people who are on your side.

I never said he’s not influential. But he has no power and there’s no majority in congress. You also assume he’s not also working to rally people. I’m also not a democrat. Not a fan of bombing brown kids in the mid east.

He's a FORMER Secretary of Transportation. He's also seen as an enemy to the current administration. If they impeach AND remove Trump, Vance becomes president. Is that better or worse? What Pete is doing is the right thing, and I suspect he's also trying to gather allies, which you think he isn't.
