I'm a glutton for punishment, I really try to finish everything. There are a few books I just never got around to finishing, though, just due to a gap in reading, and not caring enough to pick it back up (Tom Sawyer for one). Or short story anthologies - they're easy to just nibble at.

I read it in high school as well, though I don't remember it at all. I guess it's time to revisit!

Unless you're going to hire the plumber or electrician I need, forget the gifts. I'd rather just spend time with those I want to spend time with, without all the stress of gift-buying. If I want something, I'll get it for myself.

As someone who has fully paid off her mortgage, fuck yeah fully owning my house is WAY better than having that cost hanging over my head. It is freedom. It enabled me to quit my job and go back to school. I get to work a job I actually like instead of the one that I needed to pay the bills.

I've never been in that position, thankfully, but if I needed to get some sleep for a few hours on cold concrete in 30° temps, maybe I'd want some booze to help me along too.

Most days I come home from work physically, emotionally, and/or mentally exhausted. But you know what I do? I find the energy to give my husband all my attention for another hour or however long he needs, because that's what a good marriage is. And then we crash into the TV-watching silence I need.

Even for the standard taxpayer, it wouldn't likely be much more than the insane amount we're already paying for premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, etc. Not to mention the expense of time everyone spends arguing with insurance companies over coverage.
