Storm Éowyn on the Eden Estuary. There is more and more energy in the atmosphere because of climate change. Until there is a solution we will have to get used to this!

I was astonished to spot 3 forest elephants on a roundabout in Glenrothes yesterday! They have the classic small round « cyclotis » ears and their backs curve upwards to the highest point above their hips!

As a tropical ecologist in exile in Scotland since the military coup in Gabon, I have been exploring the Scottish rain forests. Sadly most of them have been destroyed but Taynish gives a glimpse into what they once were, and could be again. Restoring forests is a great way to fight climate change.

« Bru’s » Chariots of Fire moment on the West Sands today was buffeted by Storm Bert. She seemed perplexed, looking at me as if to ask « what are you humans doing to our planet? ». As a climate negotiator who attended every COP from Poznan to Dubai all I can reply is « mea culpa ».

Climate change meets « chariots of fire ». On the edge of Storm Bert, St. Andrew’s West Sands are deserted. As heat (=energy) accumulates in the atmosphere weather events become more severe. Droughts, storms, floods, winds . . . We must cut emissions and preserve and restore the world’s forests!

How does "urge" compare with "invite" or "request"?

Is "welcome" warmer than "note"? (Yes, obvs!)

I facilitated a discussion on role of the public sector at the launch of the King's Circular Bioeconomy Alliance: adopt stable policies, ensure political equity, change bad subsidies to good, green procurement, blended finance to promote private sector investment, put Nature into school curriculums
