An interesting limestone lithographic plate featuring coins and tokens. One of the images has been reversed to show a positive version. The central feature shows an image of Nostell Priory.

A special coin this one! A Viking imitation found in the Baltic states. It copies a radiate helmet type of Aethelred which itself copies a radiate military bust type of Constantine the Great that was struck in London c. AD 312. That’s a lot of history in a battered and pieced bit of silver …

My only antique gem, worn every day for over 30 years … nicolo originally engraved in the late first or early second century AD. I think the P and M were added later.
