Man I spent hooooours playing that, was so proud of my 2.1 stroke average

Eyyyy another thing to combine with Natural Affinity

My personal philosophy has been "if you really like a book, buy a copy to give to a friend"

(Deeefinitely don't have like 6 copies of Paths of the Righteous and Chronicle of Legends sitting in my gifts bin right now, that would be silly)
October 23, 2025 at 3:13 AM
"Belong" is a strange word when Tim, Chill, Pongify and Psionic Blast are actually things Blue isn't allowed to do but are just monoblue.

Cmon dude, this is clownery. Say "I just want the game to be worse" and move on with your life
October 22, 2025 at 7:01 PM
Neato. Is that supposed to be an argument against it? Because it just looks like you're a clown.

My position makes the game more accessible and intuitive, yours does not. You cannot elaborate on why gameplay would be harmed.

Why do you want the most common way folk play MtG to be worse?
October 22, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Devoid doesn't use a different color identity for EDH, EDH ignores devoid in deckbuilding.

Can you explain why it would make the game worse?
October 22, 2025 at 5:17 PM
"This guy is so fast everyone that wants to go fast runs with him"
Easy.

The hypothetical new card has the exact same hybrid cost structure (Ognis' min identity is R), we're just discussing a line of rules text that would let him violate deckbuilding the rabbits and bureaucrats and temple guards do
October 22, 2025 at 4:56 PM
So the seventeen rats etc that ignore qty limits exist (and new ones release seemingly every set at this point), how do they fit in?

If we took Ognis and errata'd a line onto him (or made a new card with the same cost) to say "This card's color identity is Red", are you chill with that?
October 22, 2025 at 4:08 PM
(Thank you, I was trying to figure out how to on mobile after Prox asked and just had no idea)
October 22, 2025 at 4:03 PM
So THAT is required knowledge by new players as the mechanics for how the deck ties together? Tell me what this spaceship leads.

Please, ya gotta see how absurd a stance that is. "Its always been that way" is NEVER a justification when a more accessible or useful or etc path exists and is obvious.
October 22, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Okay, I'll play dumb and let you explain.

Animar is Temur not WUBRG. Why?

The game could easily see a rules engine update that replaces all written color words with their mana symbols and the only thing that breaks is EDH, is that good game design? No, "its stupid."
October 22, 2025 at 3:49 PM
"For flavor reasons"
See, right there you tried to quantify something and that's where your argument shatters

Why is Archelos Sultai? Why are half of these WUBRG slop "flavorfully" so?

You can say "it just is", but if there's not a unifying basis, you have to accept "that's stupid" as criticism.
October 22, 2025 at 3:44 PM
See I don't think they are (the avacyn one blurs the two "issues" into a single pot in particular).

If you look far enough up the branches, sure, they're discrete-- but they connect to the same trunk pretty quickly, especially when Devoid and things like Rog are also their own counterarguments
October 22, 2025 at 3:38 PM
And sure, the logical conclusion of this might be "every C deck runs Git Probe" but... lmao, whatever, that's not a line of argumentation that matters
October 22, 2025 at 3:16 PM
See that's the thing you've got backward-- you don't have to squeeze at all.

Hybrid working as it does in other formats is not only intuitive, it actually *lessens* the cognitive load by doing such. If you can't be arsed to grasp how 'minimum identity' works as a premise, you don't have to run them
October 22, 2025 at 3:16 PM
Sure; but not being able to run Archangel Avacyn in a mono W angels deck is a crime, and a little part of me screeches louder every time I have to explain why it can't but Extort can, and the new Fire Lord is gonna do it again...

Drop of Honey, Psionic Blast, etc already shatter color expectations.
October 22, 2025 at 3:12 PM
What restriction? The largest color pie breaks aren't hybrid lmao, Sylvan Library is in green.

I'm of the opinion that the format should have as many cards work as possible; "I ran a burn deck in standard but can't convert it to EDH with the commander I want b/c obosh is rakdos" is duuuuumb.
October 22, 2025 at 2:57 PM
Shit, there's levels to this wordplay... Well done.

Little ass nowhere towns in the deep red of ohio blew me away this weekend pulling several hundred, more than I'd ever seen for any kind of organized event ever
October 19, 2025 at 3:00 AM
Actually, having thought a lot on the premise, complexity of a few options is, I, think ideal (at least imo). Things that came late in PF's life Equipment Trick and Magic Trick would be a really neat way to template stances, having them open up a more diverse state of actions without being so narrow
October 15, 2025 at 11:15 PM
I think this model becomes neatly interesting, though incorporating it in several places might spike complexity-- in theory this reared tauric PC could use it to range attack safely, cast safely, or get a ribbon like "double damage if exiting with a hoof attack". Stops being a ribbon itself tho.
October 14, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Ooooooh, I like this premise.

And actually, if its changed to a swift to rear and just changed to only stay up until it completes an action or begins a move, we have this neat 'chambering' premise, like stances in Tekken
