I do the same, and personally I find it good etiquette. Especially if I’m doing actions quickly. It’s my job to know what I’m doing if anything gets questioned. I think it should be a rule IMO

Only time I’ve beaten it is with Pult and mainly because they bricked and I could pick off the Ralts easily.
In my head item locking and jamming tower seems best. Also targeting the Kirlia with Iron Hands, requires lots of resources though
