Endings always seem to be one of the toughest things to get right, I'd agree with that point for sure.

You can't have one without the other, when an Indie game is very successful it shows AAA devs that that's a safe risk they can implement. AAA studios definitely have more red tape to try new ideas than a small dev company but the funds they have access to allow them to create beautiful worlds too.
