68 year old with 68 years experience talking about and doing farming things in fields, barns, at kitchen tables and in diners. Yes, I started young.
Threats to corporate profits and trans issues are two surefire ways to bring Republican senators out of hibernation.

I know you mean well but millions of decent people on both our coasts would like to weigh in on that opinion.

There's nuance here. There are fringe districts like Valadao in CA-22 that can be picked off. They are important but limited in number.

They get lost in the other ~2500 counties that are deep red and will likely stay that way for decades.

I am guilty of "fading Rockwell" lumping.

Good question. I imagine the ones making the largest donations to Republican PACs or maybe directly to Trump.

Amazing how supposedly tough, independent people like this guy eagerly kiss the ass of the orange menace.

You'd never know it by the size of the truck he drives.

Super dumb and good.
December 8, 2025 at 5:50 AM
That's exactly right. A complete one-way street. They refuse to consider a "left" position - it's not even on their radar.

Welfare for me but not for thee.

I'm all for supporting the farm community but their support for a political party that punishes others is sickening.

Rural values my ass.

You'd think so, but bigotry is a powerful drug that overrides everything else.
December 7, 2025 at 2:17 AM
They're not idiots, but there's a majority in most rural counties who are bigoted from one line fence to the next.

Note that I said the majority, not all. The people who didn't vote for Trump are good people having to live next to their cruel and callous neighbors.

C'mon NPR, you were doing better with headlines.

No backsliding! Controversial my arse!
December 5, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Hey, I'd like nothing better than AOC as president.

I think it's a high risk bet to run anyone other than a straight white male. I've been living in rural America for a long time - the patriarchy is deeply rooted, and the other bigotries are ever present.

Just reporting what I see, everyday.

Probably some kind of grift involving the importation of Chinese cars.
December 5, 2025 at 2:49 PM
On point. So, looking ahead a bit, who's going to pickup the Bernie/AOC flag?

Consider that the swing states are full of voters who will not vote for a woman or person of color.

It's not that far away. Who's on the list?

The history of unfettered American agriculture: Use it till it's gone, be that land, water, or people.

CA - put the brakes on these exploiters.

Thank you!

Location please? One of our granddaughters in St Paul would love it.
December 5, 2025 at 4:52 AM
It's sickening. This prick makes his money playing golf on courses maintained largely by immigrants - legal and undocumented.

Where's his concern been over the past 40 years?

He started caring when he needed Trump to cover his ass for something.
December 5, 2025 at 3:54 AM
He woke up with a conscience that day?
