Blue Jackets clearly want this game more. Beating the Devils to every loose puck, sharper with their passes, and keeping the Devils bottled up now in their own end.

At this point, I am not watching games and expecting wins...just looking forward to watching Hameenaho and Gritsyuk grow as players.

Even if this team were to make the playoffs, they'd be embarrassed in the first round...better to sell some pieces and rebuild for next season.

That's a start. Also thinking that there's a non-zero chance that Siegenthaler gets traded for a future asset before the deadline, and that Seamus Casey finally gets a chance to play and show whether he belongs.

Even if this team, as presently constituted, were to make the playoffs, they'd be out very quickly.

A goodly portion of the Devils fan base grew up rooting for the hated Rangers (I grew up watching Giacomin, Hadfield, Gilbert, Ratelle, Park, Neilson, Seiling...the list goes on and on). We know hockey. And we know when the product isn't up to snuff.

Unfortunately, the broadcast team loses credibility when they talk about what a good period the Devils had when they are trailing on the scoreboard. This isn't a new hockey market that doesn't understand the game. And this isn't youth hockey where you hand out a participation trophy.

I was hoping that Glendening wouldn't still be here by the Olympic break. Guessing I was too optimistic.
