Current pastor, former basketball player. My tweets are not my own, they represent everyone I know, ever met, and every employer I've ever worked for.
Will sometimes blog when I get inspired: missionmilford.blogspot.com
That's a good way to explain it, Nolan being plot-driven, or even concept-behind-the-plot driven vs. character driven that connects on a personal level.
And that's where the second Avatar missed for me as I was expecting more of a Nolan approach. That may have been my mistake.

I'd honestly like to hear the case here because the second Avatar lost me about 20 mins in, recaptured my attention in the last 20, but that middle was a whole bunch of meh.
And I'd put Nolan's Batmans all above even the first Avatar.

That "too appealing" line is an all- timer in missing the point.
And the whining about repentance as if it wasn't the key to the whole plot and the last five minutes didn't happen.
Shaking my head while laughing out loud in incredulity.

Mr. Congdon does well to identify the categories TGC has to use and then forces the film fit into them.
As a pastor, I found it to capture my faith in all its warts and its beauty.
Why can't TGC celebrate an authentically positive depiction of a pastor?

I'm willing to listen to his opinion (and yours) on this.
But I got a whole bunch of questions about his Top 20 list.
Blackhawk Down #1?????

I would agree but with this coach and those mismatch of players...

Bob Griese had a similar reaction calling Brian's Rose Bowl and title clinching win in 97.
He was a little more demure about it but it is only natural.

They can, most don't opt out these days. I think there's an older generation that did and have found out the hard way.

True, though I'm more tempted to fit it into the freshman bible-overview class I'm teaching at Grace.
One of the first AA meetings has an powerful breakdown of guilt/forgiveness and God's sovereignty and our culpability.
The first couch scene discussion of the afterlife is superb of course

I've been here for a bit. But only now getting active and growing inactive on the bird app.
Yeah a really good vampire/horror story beyond just the theological wrestling.

Confirms what I thought ahead of time: the Cavs are the one team we need KP to beat them in the Playoffs.
The rest of the East may improve over the long season but I am not sure there's another serious contender.
