While clearing out some old boxes, I found these mementos of the fun and rewarding academic journey that I’ve travelled since 2001. #BusinessCard

Brilliant afternoon at QuornAFC as they secured a 3-0 win and became league Champions. 🍾
To make a special day even better, Phil Annets was handing out signed copies of his excellent book about the FA cup 👏🏼
Decent, but quite damp, attendance of 476
What an amazing day 😃

OTD in 1946, 33 people died at Burnden Park during a FA Cup match between Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City. The subsequent official report by Moelwyn Hughes recommended more rigorous control of crowd sizes. #NeverForget

Major incident declared over large #sinkhole, in Godstone, Surrey (affected road shaded in red). This area was formerly a sandpit so it would be interesting to hear what specialist ground works were undertaken in this area, specifically for the relatively new buildings?

A great performance resulted in a solid 3-0 victory for top of the table Quorn (against 2nd place Corby) moving them 19pts clear at the top of the
NorthernPremLge Midlands Div. Bumper crowd of 502. Great value for money 👏🏼🍺🥧🍔🍟

We had a lovely day in Nottingham last week but we were dismayed to see so many examples of (anti-homeless) ‘Hostile architecture’ between the train station on the city centre.

The Paul & Shirley Smith books (a range of publication dates) have maps and coordinates of past and existing (at the time) grounds. Here is an example of former 2nd division Loughborough’s ground 👍🏼

There are no maps, but a photo and some supporting text. See this example about the mighty Sky Blues’ Highfield Road. The Paul & Shirley Smith book has maps and coordinates 👍🏼

I can highly recommend these 4 books for the #football ground aficionados. All cracking reads, and 3 of them can be picked up 2nd hand quite cheap (except Inglis’ ‘Engineering Archie’ which is my favourite as it is excellent and much harder to get hold of). 👇🏼

Well that was cold, but surprisingly entertaining. @leicestercity.bsky.social winning 3-1 against West Ham.

My eldest son is a ‘changeling’. Last week it was ‘Fortnight’ and smelly armpits, this week it is ‘PowerWash simulator’ and aftershave 🤔❤️
