Plus, lots of people don't like wearing helmets because it gives 'em helmet hair.

So this focus with cyclists wearing helmets causes the general public to view cycling as more dangerous than it actually is, preventing them from cycling. This, in turn, leaves cyclists as odd, "less-than-human". And this makes the activity actually more dangerous than it has to be.

People who cycle a lot are often sensitive to these types of discussions because cycling is, as Mike has said, extremely safe. We don't expect people to wear helmets while showering or climbing ladders, for example, despite a high risk for head injuries from these activities.

There's a popular study about dehumanization of cyclists when they wear helmets. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

I think it's a more complex risk/reward calculation.

Both-sidesism is catnip for these types of dipshits. It's unreal just how poor their ability is to reflect on basic, observable, reality.

SOCIALISM! Why doesn't Rolling Hills Estates pull itself up by its bootstraps, and find a free-market solution to this problem the way the good lord intended?

(For real, shame on you for voting for that ridiculous fear-mongering nonsense)

Not sure if the implication here is that the use of Rust is, itself, smug?

Calling unwrap() is a “I don’t care about handling the unhappy path” decision. IOW, it’s a decision to take the risk, and ignore the monad-ness of a monad.

What cities in the United States offer actual car-free living level walkability and is similarly priced (all-in! Condo fees and property taxes count here) to nearby suburban homes? I've been wanting to move to one of those! Hook me up!

And with Saylor, I legitimately have no idea if he *knows* that’s bullshit, and he’s purposely trying to conflate bitcoin with legitimate investments or if he’s actually just that clueless about the meaning of basic financial terms.

That was a hint that maybe you should re-read it. They literally ran out of time and nothing happened.

How’d that end? Remind me.

I get why this is a thing, and probably agree somewhat. But like… we have a perfect example, right now, demonstrating that “having money” is NOT a predictor of corruption-resistance. Never have we had a richer president. Nor a more openly corrupt one. Capacity for greed seems infinite.

Hear hear! Richmond, VA has BOTH: free buses and state-run liquor stores. And it’s hardly seen as some bastion of “socialism”.
